Do lawyers often start their own law firm, or go to work for a law firm?

Will recent law school graduates go to work for law firms more often, or start their own? Or later in a lawyers career will they often start their own firm?

1. The usually go to work for an established firm because if they opened up by themselves not many people would come to them because they have no experience.
