How do I file for divorce in Texas without getting any lawyers involed, we both are not fighting over anything?

We have a 6 year old son together and I am 4 months pregnant with our second child. Both my husband & I agreed to no lawyers & I and the kids will keep the house & my car. We live in Odessa. I wanna know the most cheapest and civil way we can file for divorce without the attorney fees. Thanks.

  1. If your kids mean more to you than the love of your life then try hard to work it out . If you can't go to the couthouse . All records are there. I hope this works for your future ,but don't stay , if you are not both in love.
  2. Stop it. That's not very nice.
  3. my friend just did it by buying the divorce yourself book from a bookstore and she filled out the papers and went to the courthouse and paid the fee. He then has a time line to file an answer to her requests and if he does not then you get what you want. If he does respond then they set the date for the judge and you both go into the hearing and if all goes well, he signs off on it. Not too hard, just make sure it is what you want!!
  4. You do not always need a lawyer to divorce, its a common misconception. Only contested divorces require a lawyer. An uncontested (agreed upon) divorce does not require a lawyer, you can do it yourself. You would prepare papers (or have them prepared), file them at your court house and serve a copy to your spouse. You then will wait the required waiting period (if any) as ordered by your state, and you'll receive a final divorce decree by mail when the divorce is finalized.
