Legal Advice?

Can grandparents get a court order to get access to see grandchildren in Australia. Thanks David M for going to so much trouble to find an answer for me. Why didn't I think of doing a google search. Many thanks.

  1. new laws say. Yes they can
  2. They would have to go to that country and try. Australia doesn't have to honor a US court order like that. They may have laws about that to.
  3. I hope so ! It is crimminal in my opinion to not allow grand parrents to see their grand children!
  4. I googled grandparent visitation in Australia and got several good hits. The prevailing practice seems to be: if you have to go to Court on the issue in Australia, you're almost guaranteed one visit a month unless the parent proves the grandparent is a danger. I found a case where a grandmother gave a grandchild peanuts and he was allergic. The kid almost died and she kept her visitation rights because she supposedly didn't know. The burden is on the parent to defeat the visitation and apparently it's hard to do in Australia.
