My partner and I are planning to open legal document preparation services?
Do we need any permit or license in MA to open up a legal document preparation services, which includes all legal documents typing, immigration forms typing, etc? Please advise me at your earliest convenience. If we could, what kind of bond and/or liability should we have? Thanks, hean

- Check you state's "unauthorized practice of law" laws. You could wind up in jail.
- i think you get supply documents maybe but you can not prepared them for individuals without being in violation of the un-authorized practice of law
- First thing you need to verify is what consistutes practicing law without a license in your state. Some of the things you indicated are acts that can be performed only by an attorney or a paralegal "supervised" by a licensed attorney. If you start such a business and "employ" an attorney you will very likely have to carry a bond or be sure that he carries malpractice insurance. I thought of starting that sort of business many times, and that was my major roadblock] Laura
