My friend is trying to get me into being a prepaid legal services associate. Being my friend or scamming me?
What does he get out of signing me up? And is this a scam to begin with?

- READ THE FINE Print...it's only "prepaid" for the most basic of services...Which don't include...needing an attorney if your arrested...which oddly enough is WHY most people might need an attorney...The pre-paid part covers basic legal help (most of which you can do yourself anyway) While not a total scam, it is way too much money for the average person to spend, for services that are generally never going to be used... And yes he is making a commission on the "sale" They offered this "benifit" at my last employer...it was like $35/check or $70/month...so about $840 a year...I've needed a lawyer once in my life so far (I'm 38) 15 years ago, he cost me $700...which being as it was for an arrest...wouldn't have been covered...so...do the math!
- Prepaid legal is part good and mostly scam. Lots of limitations and probably bad legal advice. If you really need help reading contracts, read them, ask questions, hire a real attorney at that time. Best way to tell if something is a scam: what is the commission level on the sale and who gets the biggest bite of the commission? Prepaid legal is a multi-level marketing concept.
- Your friend is not trying to scam you. Most people who get into PrePaid legal believe they are doing something good. It is not a good business though. Your friend has been sucked in.
- he will get he sign up bonus and i do not know if it is a scam -- but if you are not sure don't do it just because he is a friend!!!
