  1. Such a phrase is called a "request" It is legal. I do not know if it is appropriate, though.
  2. many teachers in California use this phrase when dealing with students who's mommies walk their teenagers to school and go to all P.T.A. meetings this phenomenon is known as suckybutitis. so teachers often use this phrase to bring unruly children back into the real world. And the name of the phrase you are looking for is "shut up"
  3. It could be construed as a form of verbal harassment and a tone and manner complaint. Check the school regulations. You should probably just suck it up and shut your trap though.
  4. Why you wrote here LAWYERS? You are planning to sue the school for this? Just give you an advice, not everything in this life is suing the heck out of these people. Bringing them and yourself to litigation require two things- time & money. If you do not have time for this I suggest you think twice before placing yourself in this situation. And most of all money, the most important in suing people or institution. The good lawyers will suggest this kind but for those who only running for your money will somehow give you a hint to sue the hell out of the school. As a starter there is NO probable cause so to speak in suing the teacher or the institution regarding what they told you 'shut your trap', again I suggest your read the school books on rules & regulation careful and with an open heart. Understand it thoughtfully so that if any breach or violation of those things then you could probably sue. But mere hearsay or just words the law suit you and your lawyer will present in court will just be squash. I do not think a lawyer will go to with this if he is in his right mind that is.
