lawyers...? lets just say the person they are defending has admited they are guilty of a mass murder why would a lawyer still back them and try and get them a lower sentence? seems wrong to me, even though i guess its all about money like what if the person got out early because of the lawyer and killed the lawyers family, would they deserve it?

Can lawyers be disbarred for intentionally giving wrong or misleading advice? Can they be punished in any other way? Consider this situation: The company asks an employee to do something which might have legal repercussions. Employee asks the company lawyer for indemnification; or confirmation that this is a direct order; or just plain clarification of the legal issues involved. The Company lawyer responds: "don't worry about a thing -- if there is any trouble, my job is to protect you -- no one will ever place the blame on you to protect the company." In other words, corporate lawyers lie to employees, intentionally giving them bad legal advice in order to advantage their actual client, which is the company, not the employee. How is this not illegal? What should the employee say in response to such a claim?
Any lawyers know the best way to start a solo bankruptcy practice? Are there any lawyers out there who practice bankruptcy who could tell me how difficult it would be to start a solo bankruptcy practice and how I might go about doing this. First, is this the kind of think that I could figure out with form books and software or should I work in a firm first? Also, could I mainly do Chapter 7's or do I really need to do all kinds to stay afloat? Any helpful info by experienced bankruptcy lawyers would be greatly appreciated! I'm licensed in Mississippi if that helps.
Why do some lawyers think is private lawsuit is the way to deal with public corruption? Why is it a response of lawyers, when they hear about abusive, corrupt acts of government officials, to advise those harmed by the corrupt government officials to hire a lawyer? Some things should be dealt with as a crime, not as a lawsuit. Or don't lawyers care, especially if it generates fees they can collect from those harmed by the corruption.? And do they really think that such lawsuits would accomplish much in a locality where corruption is widespread, even accepted as part of the culture? How many of the local judges could be trusted in such a situation?
How do I find lawyers who take on cases for part of the reward rather than an upfront fee? Hi all, I am trying to sue my apartment management company since their employee (my on-site apartment manager) got into my apartment without my permission and stole lots of my personal and financial information and committed lots of fraudulent charges. My question is: How do I find a good lawyer who specializes in this case? I would also like to know how/where I can find lawyers who are willing to take on a case for a portion of the reward rather than an upfront fee. I am living in the bay area, California. Any help/information is greatly appreciated! Thanks.
How do lawyers determine pro bono work other than publicity reasons? Is it also true that lawyers must do some level of pro bono work annually to be bar certified? Is this work primarily discretionary or is there a formula involved in pro bono work other than publicity? Is pro bono work generally speaking done for financial gain or good intentions? Answer 3 Dan: "Publicity has nothing to do with it" Laff***

How do lawyers make so much money? I know a lot of you make think this is a dumb question but I'm going to ask it anyway. I know lawyers charge a lot for different services but don't they use that money to pay for court costs, paying assistants, filing fees, recording fees, etc...? Do lawyers make money off of small cases or is it the big lawsuits that rack in the dough? Btw, I'm not trying to bash lawyers at all.

Do lawyers have access to public records including personal financial records? How do they get access to this?
Can foreign lawyers become qualified to practise in India? Is there a process for non-Indian, foreign lawyers to become qualified in India? If so, does the procedure vary from state to state, or is there a national standard? I'm qualified in the US (California) and the UK (England/Wales), but have lived many years in India and am wondering if I could ever work here as a lawyer.
Why are lawyers out of work when legal services cost so much? I hear many young lawyers complaining that it is impossible to find work and that many of them feel deceived by their law schools that gave them the impression that they will make a lot of money upon graduation. At the same time I hear a lot of people complaining that legal services cost so much and that they can't afford them. Why then can't these new complaining lawyers get work simply by charging less? Is it just because they suck at marketing themselves?
Are lawyers paid for their time driving to court? I am suing someone who hired some very expensive lawyers to represent them in the case. The thing is that said fancy lawyers are 1.5 hour from the courthouse each way, 3 hours round trip. So I am just curious: does the person I am suing have to pay the lawyers for the 3 hours it takes for them to drive to court? Would the lawyer get paid a fraction of their hourly rate or the full rate just for driving to court? Thanks all!
How to find out about lawyers role in mailing certified letter? The defendants went to the lawyer on june 25, 2009, received letter on june 25, 2009. Noticied letter was handwritten by defendant. Was not trying to dodge mail. I signed it right away. The defendants then went on vacation. We live in New Jersey. Our organization do not think this was legal. We feel lawyer should have mailed it out on his own stationery. It was not mailed from lawyers town, but our town where defendant and I live.
How do I find a lawyer that will take on other lawyers in malpractice issues? I am now concerned that my own lawyers are screwing me over as well as a Judge, court appointed attorney, my mother's estate attorney and everyone else. I need to go in front of the Wisconsin Supreme Court with these issues, but am I just going to run into the same problem with lawyers looking after their own kind again? Who do I talk to, or where do I go to have someone answer some legal questions truthfully?
What sort of values should lawyers have and uphold ? "Law is the art of the good and the fair." "To live honorably, to harm no one, to give to each his own" Ulpianus, one of the greatest roman lawyers. What kind of morale values should lawyers uphold nowdays ? I want to start a startup for lawyers. What do you think? I create daily reports for family law lawyers to track prospective clients in specific state (e.x. report contains links to forum messages from people looking for help in family law matters related to California or other specific U.S. State). I would like to start my own startup business providing lawyers in all U.S. states with this kind of reports, but I am not sure if this service is in demand by lawyers. Do you think this kind of business will succeed? Are there any common types of firms providing leads for lawyers?

How does criminal trial impact if suspects hired teams of lawyers? Let say a low profile case, it's felony case but low profile. Let say the suspect who is on trial does hired a teams of lawyers. Maybe 10 defense lawyers work with suspect because he is wealthy. How does prosecutor handle this? Will prosecutor hire even more teams with tax payer money? Or prosecutor will dismissed the case because can't afford court costs?

Why do a lot of military people hate lawyers? Who do a lot of military personnel dislike lawyers? I've often heard many individuals in the military call them the scurge of society and scum of the earth. Why is this? What do lawyers do to make others hate them so much? Defend guilty people? What about hard nosed prosecuters that go head strong into trying to prosecute innocent people? Why are lawyers hated so much? Because they make more money than you?

Where can I find good custody lawyers in Kentucky for cheap? Lawyers and cheap don't really go together, but I am looking for a relatively cheap lawyer by pricing standards, who is good at winning custody cases. I am looking to help out a single mother, so that she can get her child away from his father, who unfortunately is a danger to his well being. Can anyone help?
Does the salary of lawyers differ greatly depending on what professsion one is in? If I went into law, I might want to help people and be in like family or disability law. However, I don't know if these types of lawyers make a lot of money. I don't mean to be greedy, but I don't think I would like a lifestyle where I would hardly have any money to buy really nice things. Do lawyers who go into law to help people generally get paid a pretty poor salary?
What type of lawyers help people get out of AA to protect their consitutional rights? I want to go to law school and be a lawyer that works with people that are court mandated to Alcoholics Anonymous and believe it is religious. Are civil rights lawyers the ones that primarily do this? YES AA is religious....the highest court of appeals in New York found it to be religious and unconstitutional. I want to do criminal defense as well but also protect peoples constitutional rights. AA forces people to turn their lives over to a Christian God and prayer is required at the beginning and end of meetings.

Why do the lawyers and paralegals in my building feel the need to take visitor parking spaces? On the first floor of my office building is a law office that's chock full of small-time lawyers and lowly paralegals. They're all up to their ears in debt and spend all their disposable income on fancy clothes and luxury vehicles such as BMW or Mercedes. They also apparently feel that they're so important that they park in the visitors parking spaces every day! Why do these people insist on taking visitors parking spaces? Are they trying to compensate for something? You are a high roller I'm sure
How hard is it to find a job for lawyers? I've been considering law school for a while now (junior in high school) but i'm not sure if there is a demand for lawyers these days or not. I'm mainly worried about the difficulty of finding a job. If it helps at all i'm planning on majoring in criminal law.

We are remodeling a house and keep having problems from the city about permits, inspections etc. ( small town in Texas) We are having all work done by contractors who are registered with the city. Is it true DHAL sells information to lawyers & 3rd parties and is a criminal and fruadulent organization? Distress Homeowners Assist Line, DHAL is under legal investigation for fraud and operating under the title of a non-profit organization. Does the second amended complaint have to be served on the defendants lawyers? The judge dismissed my complaint and told me to amend. I would res judicata apply? I added more defendants to the case were they all supposed to be served. I had also had the original defendants reserved a copy of the new complaint. Was I suppose to have that served on the defendants lawyers. The defendants lawyers are now trying to say that the court dosen't have jurisdiction because they are claiming that the defendantss weren't served properly. The sheriff served everyone.
Why do lawyers tend to wear large cowboy or outback hats? I see it all the time on the train. A middle-aged man with a trench coat, man purse, and a huge floppy (and expensive) looking hat. The hats look like they should be worn by Indiana Jones or Crocodile Dundee. Next thing you know they are on their cell phones loudly talking shop so you know they're lawyers. What's with the hats?
How to get my lawyers sue the embassy? Hi, I am from Singapore and my exhusband had made Turkish passports by forging my signature, the mother, at the Turkish embassy in Singapore. He then absconded my 2 kids to Turkey. How do I get my lawyers to sue the embassy or get them to surrender the passport application documents to get the Singapore police to investigate the forgery? Any suggestions and also how to get my kids back?
Are lawyers going to make finacial killings over Guantanamo? Will lawyers go to any length to make money at tax payers expense? Yes. They don't give a hoot about tax payers. Can lawyers from the same firm go against each other in court? So if you have a firm with say 50 different lawyers, can two of them go against each other in court? What do you guys think of the black lawyers for justice? I think they are pretty damn good. The legal system does not always treat blacks fairly and it's nice to have a lawfirm dedicated to helping us prove our innocence. I'm thinking of studing law this fall when i go to Bowie State and hopefully becoming a lawyer. Nothing would make me happier than to defend my own people! Black lawyers rule!
How is the job market for lawyers? I am a 1st year college student interested in studying law and going to law school. I would like to know how is the job market for lawyers coming out of college. I live in NY.
What can I do to make my website totally anonymous from lawyers trying to sue me ? I am planning on creating an adult website. With everyone sueing everyone these days for the silliest of reasons I want protect myself. If you morally against adult websites please don't bother to reply to my question. I FULLY understand that my website content has to be legal. I do not want to make this a "content" question. I also know that I can register my website url so that my contact information is not displayed. I can also make sure I don't have a "contact us" page on the website. How can I make myself "invisible" to lawyers if somebody wants to sue me. Ideally I'd like the lawyer to say to their client "we cannot find this guy. We do not know which address to serve him". Also, one level deeper in that what if the authorities force the hosting company or registering companies to divulge my information. How can I prevent getting found out that way ? What about my ip address ? HACKERS, YOUR FEEDBACK IS APPRECIATED.

What is the biggest law firm in the bay area? How many lawyers work for them? Hi I am a college student in need of everyones cooperation. For my critical thinking class we are doing some research on how we can come up with individual answers to complex questions. I was given the question "What is the biggest law firm in the bay area?" The bay area must include these six counties Alameda, San Mateo, San Francisco, Marin, Contra Costa, and Santa Clara. This question also asks how many lawyers work for that particular law firm and what is the starting salary and the highest salary as well. I am having problems defining "biggest" since it can be the law firm with the most lawyers, with the biggest building, or with the most locations. Please if you know the answer to any of these questions even if it is in just one county. Thank you.
How do I get my money from my lawyers trust account? In August of 2005 I sold a residential property. The listing agreement with my realtor indicated if the property was sold by the listing agent (dual vendor) the commission would be 2%. The listing broker went on vacation and the agent assigned to look after her properties sold the property to an existing client. In essence, When my agent went on vacation, another agent was looking after her clients. This agent acted for both myself and the purchaser. A dual agency was created and the 2% commission should apply. By acting in my agents stead the other agent assumed any agreement that the listing agent made with me. The listing agent received her 2% but the remaining 2 1/2% is being held in my lawyers trust account. As the listing agent has not pursued this, can I get my money from MY lawyers trust account? I cant seem to get a straight answer from my lawyer. I don't know if the statute of limitations has lapsed (1 or 2 years?) for the agent to sue. How do I get my money
Do some lawyers really sleep with their female clients? I admired this lawyer very much and looked up to him but a few days ago, he told me that he had a sex encounter with a client. Now i don't think much of him. Lawyers out there, is this kind of stuff common in your profession?
How do we get the lawyers out of our government and get the people back in? All of our alleged representatives are very good politicians. The will tell you what you want to hear in order to get elected. All issues; gas prices, immigration, terrorism, ... become politicized in order to sway your vote. Lawyers did not write the constitution. Farmers did. What are Americans going to do about it? All of the money left over after an election goes into the politicians pocket. They make money after their term is up by consulting for companies selling to the government. Money controls them. They are good at it and will fool you if you do not pay attention.
How do you hold family law lawyers accoutable for overbilling? I'm still in high school and trying to understand all this. step dad is trying to keep my mom from getting money from our old house which she bought and made morgage payments on that we moved out of. He refuses to move or sell it yet is still there after a year and a half while also trying to get spousal support (hes a lazy sleazebag out of work). The lawyers are stalling after realizing there is not much money involved and constantly cancelling deposition dates, and billing rediculous things. How can we get them to move things along? Can we force them to do anything? Please help I want to go to an Ivy for college and see family in Europe which is very expensive.
How many hours a week do lawyers work? I heard conflicting statements, ranging from 40 to 70+ hours a week. I also read that you start out working many hours but then you work less and get paid more after a few years. Also, how many hours do specific lawyers work, such as corporate, intellectual property etc.
Lawyers!! !? A very successful lawyer parked his brand-new Lexus in front of his office, ready to show it off to his colleagues. As he got out, a truck passed too closely and completely tore off the door on the driver's side. The lawyer immediately grabbed his cell phone, dialed 911, and within minutes a policeman pulled up. Before the officer had a chance to ask any questions, the lawyer started screaming hysterically that his Lexus, which he had just picked up the day before, was now completely ruined and would never be the same, no matter what the body shop did to it. When the lawyer finally wound down from his ranting and raving, the officer shook his head in disgust and disbelief. "I can't believe how materialistic you lawyers are," he said. "You are so focused on your possessions that you don't notice anything else." "How can you say such a thing?" asked the lawyer. The cop replied, "Don't you know that your left arm is missing from the elbow down? It must have been torn off when the truck hit you." "My God!" screamed the lawyer. "Where's my Rolex?" I counted 6 Dev but i cheated . I seen it before LoL

Lawyers....? Hey I'm writing a research paper on lawyers.. I was wondering can anyone tell me what are some of the health and safety issues that a lawyer faces? Also... What are some of the health benefits available to lawyers? Plz Help, I'm dying trying to complete this paper,
lawyers...? Lawyers should never ask a Mississippi grandma a question if they aren't prepared for the answer. In a trial, a Southern small-town prosecuting attorney called his first witness, a grand motherly, elderly woman to the stand. He approached her and asked, "Mrs. Jones, do you know me?" She responded, "Why, yes, I do know you, Mr. Williams. I've known you since you were a young boy, and frankly, you've been a big disappointment to me. You lie, you cheat on your wife, and you manipulate people and talk about them behind their backs. You think you're a big shot when you haven't the Brains to realise you never will amount to anything more than a two-bit paper pusher. Yes, I know you." The lawyer was stunned! Not knowing what else to do, he pointed across the room and asked, "Mrs. Jones, do you know the defence attorney?"She again replied, "Why, yes, I do. I've known Mr. Bradley since he was a youngster, too. He's lazy, bigoted, and he has a drinking problem. He can't build a normal relationship with anyone and his law practice is one of the worst in the entire state. Not to mention he cheated on his wife with three different women. One of them was your wife. Yes, I know him." The defence attorney almost died. The judge asked both counsellors to approach the bench and, in a very quiet voice, said, "If either of you fucking idiots asks her if she knows me, I'll send you to the electric chair."
Lawyers!!!? Reported in the Massachusetts Bar Association Lawyers Journal, the following are questions actually asked of witnesses by attorneys during trials and, in certain cases, the responses given by insightful witnesses: 1. "Now doctor, isn't it true that when a person dies in his sleep, he doesn't know about it until the next morning?" 2. "The youngest son, the twenty-year old, how old is he?" 3. "Were you present when your picture was taken?" 4. "Were you alone or by yourself?" 5. "Was it you or your younger brother who was killed in the war?" 6. "Did he kill you?" 7. "How far apart were the vehicles at the time of the collision?" 8. "You were there until the time you left, is that true?" 9. "How many times have you committed suicide?" 10. Q: "So the date of conception (of the baby) was August 8th?" A: "Yes." Q: "And what were you doing at that time?" 11. Q: "She had three children, right?" A: "Yes." Q: "How many were boys?" A: "None." Q: "Were there any girls?" 12. Q: "You say the stairs went down to the basement?" A: "Yes." Q: "And these stairs, did they go up also?" 13. Q: "Mr. Slatery, you went on a rather elaborate honeymoon, didn't you? A: "I went to Europe, sir." Q: "And you took your new wife?" 14. Q: "How was your first marriage terminated?" A: "By death." Q: "And by whose death was it terminated?" 15. Q: "Can you describe the individual?" A: "He was about medium height and had a beard." Q: "Was this a male or female?" 16. Q: "Is your appearance here this morning pursuant to a deposition notice which sent to your attorney?" A: "No, this is how I dress when I go to work." 17. Q: "Doctor, how many autopsies have you performed on dead people?" A: "All my autopsies are performed on dead people." 18. Q: "All your responses must be oral, OK? What school did you go to?" A: "Oral." 19. Q: "Do you recall the time that you examined the body?" A: "The autopsy started around 8:30 p.m." Q: "And Mr. Dennington was dead at the time?" A: "No, he was sitting on the table wondering why I was doing an autopsy." 20. Q: "You were not shot in the fracas?" A: "No, I was shot midway between the fracas and the naval." 21. Q: "Are you qualified to give a urine sample?" A: "I have been since early childhood." 22. Q: "Doctor, before you performed the autopsy, did you check for a pulse?" A: "No." Q: "Did you check for blood pressure?" A: "No." Q: "Did you check for breathing?" A: "No." Q: "So, then it is possible that the patient was alive when you began the autopsy?" A: "No." Q: "How can you be so sure, doctor?" A: "Because his brain was sitting on my desk in a jar." Q: "But could the patient have still been alive nevertheless?" A: "It is possible that he could have been alive and practicing law somewhere." It is funny b/c I can actually picture some lawyers actually asking some of those questions!!

Lawyers??? I'm interested in becoming a lawyer after high school. I'm currently a sophomore, make all A's, and am ranked in the top 10% of my class at one of the top 100 public schools in the U.S. For my undergrad, I'd like to go to Rice University and study either psychology or political science. I haven't decided what law school I want to go to, but my dream school would definitely be Columbia. What does it take to be a lawyer? What is the job like? Would you recommend the profession? What is the job market like? What are the hours / qualifications / benefits? Is it worth it in the long run? The other career I'm interested in is psychology, but you need a PhD to get anywhere with it, and it's such a competitive market. Please help!! <3

Lawyers !!!? The madam opened the brothel door to see a rather dignified, well-dressed good looking man in his late 40s or early 50s. "May I help you?" she asked. "I want to see Valerie," the man replied. "Sir, Valerie is one of our most expensive ladies. Perhaps you would prefer someone else," said the madam. "No. I must see Valerie," was the man's reply. Just then, Valerie appeared and announced to the man that she charged $1,000 a visit. Without hesitation, the man pulled out ten one-hundred dollar bills, gave them to Valerie, and they went upstairs. After an hour, the man calmly left. The next night, the same man appeared again, demanding to see Valerie. Valerie explained that none had ever come back two nights in a row--too expensive--and there were no discounts. The price was still $1,000. Again the man pulled out the money, gave it to Valerie and they went upstairs. After an hour, he left. The following night the man was there again. Everyone was astounded that he had come for the third consecutive night, but he paid Valerie and they went upstairs. After their session, Valerie questioned the man. "No one has ever been with me three nights in a row. Where are you from?" she asked. The man replied, "South Carolina." "Really" she said. "I have family in South Carolina." "I know," the man said. "Your father died, and I am your sister's Attorney. She asked me to give you your $3,000 inheritance." The moral of the story is that there are three things in life that are Certain: 1. Death 2. Taxes 3. Being screwed by a lawyer

Questions for lawyers? Hi, everyone. This Q directly goes to people who are lawyers or lawyers-to-be. Before I ask, I want to make clear that by no means, I hold grudge or hatred against lawyers by asking these Qs. In fact, I know there are many great lawyers in our society who work not for money but rather to help disadvantaged people defend themselves and contribute to this society. I have nothing but the greatest respect for lawyers like Richard Bernstein who is blind personal injury lawyer and works on promoting equality and helping disadvantaged, handicapped people despite his own tremendous handicaps. As for my Qs, as a person who loves watching CourtTV and "Law and Order", I always had hard time understanding about certain facets of criminal attorneys. I have hard time understanding why certain lawyers would even think about defending murderers, rapists, arsonists, corrupt CEOs, who have done great disservce to society and brought tremendous pains to many people. If I were a lawyer, I would never even consider defending them no matter how much money I am offered for defending them. Just looking at what kind of crimes they have inflicted on other people, I wonder why certain lawyers make decision to go defend them in criminal trials. My Qs for you guys is two-fold. 1. Do lawyers defend all those criminals who have committed heinous acts toward society because they believe they are wrongly accused or because of money? Why would any lawyer defend people like Scott Peterson, Timothy McVeigh, etc.? Do lawyers defending them truly believe they are innocent or even have some sympathy toward them? 2. I know Court assigns public defender to defedants who can't afford attorney. How much difference has it made? Did it help in finding defendants who were wrongly accused of crimes? Thanks in advance for any insights.

2 lawyers, I petitioned. Getting towards end, what's going on with the paperwork? Called my lawyers office numerous times about paperwork that was suppose to be emailed or faxed over from the opposing side (husbands). My lawyer has said never received from opposing lawyer for approval of documents for finalization of divorce. This has gone on for weeks. Opposing lawyer has said sent paperwork numerous times, and I, to the point of frustration got a hold of the paperwork to be looked over by my lawyer and FAXED it myself, to no avail. Not to mention that the files of that information was sent from my email address about a month ago as well to my lawyer. I just want this divorce over with. What is going on? I am on speaking terms with my husband (soon to be ex), and he thinks it is my lawyers fault and that he is being hesitant. Is there something I should know? Tried calling my lawyer and only spoke to the secretary who said this happens alot (paperwork not sent by opposing lawyer). What difference is it whether I faxed and emailed it to him or his attorney?

Three lawyers and 3 engineers funny or not.? Three lawyers and three engineers are traveling by train to a conference. At the station, the three lawyers each buy tickets and watch as the three engineers buy only a single ticket. "How are three people going to travel on only one ticket?" asked one of the three lawyers. "Watch and you'll see," answers one of the engineers. They all board the train. The lawyers take their respective seats but all three engineers cram into a restroom and close the door behind them. Shortly after the train has departed, the conductor comes around collecting tickets. He knocks on the restroom door and says, "Ticket, please" The door opens just a crack and a single arm emerges with a ticket in hand. The conductor takes it and moves on. The lawyers saw this and agreed it was quite a clever idea. So after the conference, the lawyers decide to copy the engineers on the return trip and save some money. When they get to the station, they buy a single ticket for the return trip. To their astonishment, the engineers don't buy a ticket at all. "How are you going to travel without a ticket," asks one perplexed lawyer. "Watch and you'll see," says one of the engineers. When they board the train the three lawyers cram into a restroom and the three engineers cram into another one nearby. The train departs. Shortly afterward, one of the engineers leaves his restroom and walks over to the restroom where the lawyers are hiding He knocks on the door and says, "Ticket, please."

Lawyers eh? A very successful lawyer parked his brand-new Lexus in front of his office, ready to show it off to his colleagues. As he got out, a truck passed too closely and completely tore off the door on the driver's side. The lawyer immediately grabbed his phone, dialled 999, and within minutes a policeman pulled up. "Where's my Rolex?"
is there anyone who knows about lawyers acting illegally or if they are? I am looking into finding a lawyer for Legal Negligence, i have been fighting work cover since I was injured in 1992, I had a court case in 1996 in Mildura, my lawyers are no win no pay, but my court case in 1996 had no outcome, but my lawyers got paid, I got nothing, there was another court hearing in Melbourne a few weeks later that i was not told about, I didn’t even know it went on, we found out lately by going through our case files kept at my lawyers office, and correspondence of fees for first case. I don’t even know what the second hearing in Melbourne was about, my lawyer told me we had no medical evidence to precede at that time. i have been told no win no pay means that, so why did they get paid by work cover Victoria, they don’t hand over money for nothing. I think that something is up, recently my father inquired about my case to the boss of the firm when he was seeing him about his case and the boss didn’t know i had not got a payout, he assumed i did, dad asked if we could open the case again, the lawyer replied it was never closed. now another lawyer took on the case as original lawyer has left, he has stuffed up my case by preparing a brief that’s not incorporated all my injuries, we found out a few months ago as we meet my barrister for the first time just before the court was about to start, he stated i didn’t have a good case bla bla bla, i stopped him and said this is not the right injury what about my original injury, infection of the hand which then led to psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis after, he had no idea what I was talking about, so I explained, he was not happy at all, as I was not either as in a short time he had to go too court, so he said he will get a postponement and get a meeting with a judge, he did in Melbourne, judge ruled for me to see a medical panel, as I did two days ago, I found out no skin specialists, I went through my medical documents to see what some new medical reports that were done had said and I found out my skin specialist had said I have some psoriasis on my back, thin plagues under control, not true approximately 50% of my body is covered in it and it is severe, I have been in hospital with it sent by that doctor. Now I think that not all my symptoms have been presented to the judge as my barrister would be going on my medical reports as I have only talked to him for about 10 minutes that day and that’s it. I have sacked the lawyer from my case he did not even come to court on the day. The boss of the firm is going to take his place. Im getting shafted and I do not think that I am getting a fair case due to lawyers lack of duty of care to my case, yes its been going on since 1992 when I was injured and I have not worked since and have had no compensation, I truly believe that something illegal has been going on between lawyers on both sides as there is no files relating to the case in 1996 at Mildura at my lawyers, only the bill we grabbed, and work cover victoria don’t have any records either, we have asked, no one knows the outcome as no papers to say what happened are to be found.
Lawyers help me please i know its long but I really need your help A.S.A.P? My father died 1year ago.He has 6 kids well hes rich and has more then 10 million dollers in the bank he owned 40 houses and sold 20 out of all his kids im the youngest im 17 and his kids are like 40 50 30 and my father is 76. So my sister from my father side is a lawyer and so is her husband she made him sign papers saying i will be excluded meaning i wont have nothing and she excluded my brother from my dad side to because we have diffrent mothers and she dislikes us because of that. So she made dad sign papers i mean my dad dont know **** about anything he cant read he cant write the only thing he does is speak english and not even that he can do correctly because he was born in Capeverde and came here when he was 35 or something.i know my sister told him to sign papers and he dont even know what the hell he signing and everybody laughed when they read that testament saying its not true that dad would never do that and we know she lying but how can i prove to the judge that is a fraud. Also she has the best lawyer some lawyer told me they can't do nothing about it a will is a will and my brother contest the will already and they are in progress She mailed us the will and I don't know it seemed fishy because she crossed out a word that changes the whole sentence meaning and I don't think you supposed to cross out anything from the will and put a diffrent word on top of it. She could retype it but hmm its seems very fishy I don't know what to do she always pays lawyers to be on her side and My brother has money he paid the lawyer but he tells me to get a free lawyer and I don't think it will do me much good what do you guys think about this Sorry for my horrible grammer i typed to fast very sorry My mom don't want no part of this and ihave no money so i cant pay any lawyer Is in the u.s
Do lawyers send bills to get paid? Exhusband went back to court with Exwife/children over moving to a different location. The court ordered a kids lawyer. Eventually Exhusband won and family stayed. Kids lawyer is suppose to be paid by both parents equally. The kids lawyer called the Exhusband about payment. The Exhusband asked for a bill and it was never sent. Now the lawyer mailed a letter to Exhusbands Commanding Officer(military). If this lawyer wants to get paid shouldnt she send a bill? Exhusband just wants something in writing so he knows what he is paying for? Kids lawyer stated in letter that she would like to resolve before further action is required. Could this go on his credit report? Dont lawyers send bills normally? Can they just call and say Pay me?
How lawyers were duped by the Engineers? find out and tell me what do you think? Three lawyers and three engineers are traveling by train to a conference. At the station, each of the three lawyers buys a ticket while the three engineers buy only one ticket. "How can the three of you travel on one ticket?" asks a lawyer. "Watch and you'll see," answers an engineer. Aboard the train the lawyers take their respective seats while all three engineers cram into the restroom and squeeze the door closed behind them. When the conductor comes around collecting tickets, he knocks on the restroom door and says, "Ticket, please." The door opens a crack and a single arm emerges with a ticket in hand. The conductor takes it and moves on. The lawyers are impressed with this clever idea. One the way home from the conference, they decide to copy the engineers' technique. At the station, they buy a single ticket for their return trip. To their astonishment, the engineers don't buy a ticket at all! "How in the hell are you going to pull this off?" asks a lawyer. "Watch and you'll see," answers an engineer. They board the train. The three lawyers cram into one restroom and the three engineers cram into the other restroom. Shortly after the train departs, one of the engineers leaves his restroom and knocks on the other restroom door. "Ticket, please!"
JoKe!! Are you lawyers materialistic? There was a lawyer who drove his shiny new Merc to work one day. He parked it in front of the company where he worked to show it off to all his lawyer colleagues. As he got out, a lorry hit the door and ripped it right off. The driver stopped and ran to the lawyer saying "Are you alright, are you alright?" The lawyer, now furious, started to scream and berate the driver. "What the hell do you think you are doing? This is my brand new Mercedes. I am a lawyer and I am going to sue you for all you are worth!" Then a policeman ran up to the scene and said to the lawyer. "Calm down! You lawyers are so materialistic it's disgusting! Don't you know, when that lorry ripped your door off, it took your arm with it?" The lawyer looked down and saw his left arm missing and said, "Oh God...my Rolex!" :o)
Why do some lawyers try to confuse the Courts instead of challenging the issues? In Federal case #4:06-cv-38, ED TN, the lawyers are complaining about a son helping his dad fight for a Fair and MEANINGFUL day in court. His dad's former lawyer did not do his job. He allowed perjury to be committed- A legal malpractice & civil rights case. But because the COMMON SENSE papers the son has helped his dad with, the lawyers argue about technicalities instead of whether or not the former lawyers committed the crimes which is alleged in the lawsuit. $21.6 million dollars is at risk. Lawyer's insurance companies have said the lawyers will not be able to get any insurance after this case is finished regardless of the outcome. So what does that say? So why do lawyers argue about "Wild Goose Chasing" instead of the actual claims? Are they scared their GUILT will be determined so soon? COMMON SENSE Will Convict the Guilty Lawyers in this case regardless of Wild Goose Chasing. If you want to help preserve real Justice, contact kfluna (at) gmail.com.
Are there any lawyers here? A man walks into a bar and he's really angry. The bartender gives him a drink and asks what the problem is. All he says is, "all lawyers are a*******." A man sitting in the corner shouts, "I take offense to that!" The pissed-off guy asks him, "why? Are you a lawyer?" He replies, "no, Im AN a******." Q: Why was the lawyer skimming the Bible right before he died? A: He was looking for loopholes! An airliner was having engine trouble, and the pilot instructed the cabin crew to have the passengers take their seats and get prepared for an emergency landing. A few minutes later, the pilot asked the flight attendants if everyone was buckled in and ready. "All set back here, Captain," came the reply, "except one lawyer who is still going around passing out business cards." Did you hear about the lawyer from Texas who was so big when he died that they couldn't find a coffin big enough to hold the body? They gave him an enema and buried him in a shoebox.
Government of the lawyers, by the lawyers, and for the lawyers?? Have you noticed that both Obamas and both Clintons graduated Ivy League law school? How many other "Presidential" candidates are also lawyers? [President Bush is as well.] Are there any who aren't lawyers? Have you noticed that politicians from Washington who lose their seat don't go home? Most of them end up joining a law firm in Washington and lobbying their old comrades, don't they? *** Is America devolving into a government of the lawyers, by the lawyers, and for the lawyers? and where does that leave us? 8-)
Do lawyers undermine the checks and balances of the three branches of US government? You have to be a lawyer to serve in the judiciary branch. Many members of the legislative branch are lawyers. They make complicated laws guaranteeing lots of work for lawyers. The executive branch is populated by lots of lawyers. Lawyers move freely from one branch to another. A lawyer in one branch of government has friends and colleagues in the other branches. So in effect there are diminished checks and balances between branches. Does this make sense?.
Two lawyers stranded...? Two lawyers are stranded on a desert island for several months. The only thing on the island was a tall coconut tree, which provided them their only food. Each day one of the lawyers would climb to the top to see if he could spot a rescue boat coming. One day, the lawyer yelled down from the tree,"WOW,I just can't believe my eyes, there is a woman out there floating in our direction." The lawyer on the ground was most skeptical and said, "You're hallucinating; you've finally lost your mind." But within a few minutes, up to the beach floated a stunning red head, face up, totally naked, unconscious without even so much as a ring or earrings on her. The two lawyers went down to the water, dragged her up on the beach and discovered, yes, indeed she was alive, warm and breathing, but sunburnedand needing immediate care and nursing. One said to the other (as a typical male would), "You know, we've been onthis God-forsaken island for months now without a woman. It's been such along, long time. Do you think we should...well--you know screw her?" (ok--you're gonna love this) "Out of WHAT?", asked the other lawyer
Lawyers? necessary evils they say. Heard this one about them? And any further comments.? A client rang up his lawyers office and the receptionist said that his lawyer had passed away a fortnight ago.A few days later the same client rang up the office and requested for the same lawyer and the reply was he had died.Another couple of days later the client repeated the enquiry to the receptionist, and being annoyed the receptionist blared out "This is the third time in a week you have requested for the lawyer and I have been repeatedly telling you he has passed away, are you doing this to harras me"!. The client cooly replied " no my dear everytime i hear that my lawyer has died it gives me great cheer"
bonding for lawyers, whom were invovled w/ estate scam w/ deased executor as he tried to tell before his death I have been told by an appleals lawyer, whom is well known and in top in his field. That in all lawyers, must be bonded! to practice in any state of the US. does anyone know the amount of bond, for lawyers in alabama?Since I have exhausted all lower courts remidies and I am now in the 5th circuit supreme. Why does it seem as if, even they, are stalling for time giving extension after extension, of time to the lower courts to produce files on a 7 year old probate case that has had, to date 4 circuit court lawyers and one federal circuit, lawyer recluse themselfs. And suits are being brought agianst 5 lawyers 3 of which are judges for questionable conduct and conspiracy with the executor who is now deased also involving the lawyers and judges, some were his friends for many yrs. Also,. showing proof of a frudulent bankrupsy, frudulently forced sale of home which excluded other heirs to the estate plus insurance, NO RECORDS. Executors acct. never opened. motions 3 ignored by defence. yes I have a very good lawyer, and he said, there is not a problem,, he teaches lawyers and judges, the law, he is very well known about any and all subjects contected to any and all constitutions, I have already been offered a big settlement, only if I kept quiet, I have not due to my lawyers advise, he is from uk and also the us, appointed him to uncover all fraud that sometimes lawyers and judges are known to do, its funny, when I got one of the answers from this group I called him asap! and told him what was said to my Q! he told me not to listen, sounded like advise from a local or just a what a be, when he teaches the first thing he tells his students while he is holding up a piece of paper, he asked, how many of you believe that we have honest lawyers that y can trust all please raise your hands, most all did. He than takes the paper and tares it in bits and pieces & thows it up in air lets it fall and says" thats how much you can trust a good lawyer as theres only 10% of good so I am still going on , as I am just standing by the one who mean the most to me, and this person is the strongest other half that I have ever come across, as she was livid, when I was even on this site, so sorry to have bottered you but I have to listen to my lawyer and to my other half, as this has been a great pleasure for my other half to see her win so many of all the fake motions after motions due to his help while he was in Washington, helping kennedy, and during the fires in calif, as well as helping Baily on a case. But, he enjoys a good battle, and you will soon see, if you have a TV. the truth of the matter for me coming here is to see just how many of you truly do know your law. there is only one that I saw. but the others I am sorry to say failed the test,so I am opting out thanks for our lawyer, in his own words some of you may have to go back to school, and not to listen to this as most are being paid to just get paid. best answer still goes to the first1 from calif 10%
Lawyers & Charity? Lawyers & Charity A very rich lawyer is approached by the United Way. The man from the United Way is concerned that the lawyer made over $1,000,000.00 last year but didn't donate even a cent to a charity. "First of all", says the lawyer, "my mother is sick and dying in the hospital, and it's not covered by healthcare. Second, I had five kids through three divorced marriages. Third, my sister's husband suddenly died and she has no one to support her four children..." "I'm terribly sorry", says the United Way man, "I feel bad about asking for money." The Lawyer responds, "Yeah, well if I'm not giving them any money, why should I give you any?"
You hate lawyers? Please see my point.? my mother and father always says that i should be a lawyer because i have the material for it. sometimes i feel good that my parents believe that i will become a successful lawyer and study at Oxford. but seeing some of the other questions on Yahoo about how much people hate lawyers and it seems that they don't have a good reputation. about people saying that they turn the truth into lies, help the guilty to become innocent and i know thats probably what the vast majority of you think right?but to my mind, i think there are lots of good lawyers out there and the few bad ones spoil it for the good ones, and its not just lawyers. few bad people spoil it for the god ones its happening everyday. certain things we can't do at school because of the ones who cant behave themselves etc. my friend says she doesn't like lawyers because they make money out of peoples problems. but what about doctors? they make money because some people are dying? yet we don't hate them nor should we. im not saying that we should hate doctors, they are important and i thank them but isn't it the same? if i become a lawyer i know that i wouldn't turn the truth into lies but it hurts to know that some people might hate me because of some bad people. i just want people to see that they are important in our world and we should not hate them because of a few bad ones. however, i respect your thoughts if you have a reason. i am sorry if i have offended you in anyway but this is what I think.
Help with Lawyers!!? When my grandmother passed in 2005 my dad hired a crappy lawyer who charged him $1000 up font to settle the estate, the lawyer didn’t do anything and never returned are calls. About 9 months later my dad passed away. We went to a different lawyer that helped us settled the estates. We also wanted to get our money back from the crappy lawyer. We went and filed a complaint threw our local bar association, and to the supreme court. We had a hearing with the bar association and before the hearing my mom and the crappy lawyer signed a paper saying that the findings of the hearing were legal and binding. They awarded us $750 but that was in February of this year, we have never gotten any money. We called and written letters to the lawyers at the hearing but no one will help us, we even sent a letter to the president of the bar association and nothing. My question is who else can we go to? That will actually do something that will actually help us!!!
Do lawyers really get angry at other lawyers? I have seen lawyers talk to other lawyers as if they were angry at each other… especially in the courtroom then go back and shake hands and it’s as if they were friends again. What’s going on… do lawyers really get angry at other lawyers or is this strategy for clients favor.
Do lawyers have access to police reports? Hi I would like to know if lawyers have access to read police reports. This was my first time being arrested and someone told me that I would be receiving mail from lawyers and they were right. I asked a lawyer who I had a free consultation with and told me that they just get a record that someone was arrested and they "jump" on this knowledge and send out the offers? Is this true or do they actually already know your case if you are one of their clients coming in that they previously contacted via mail? I am asking this because I am contacting lawyers that want me to come in to speak to them. I have transportation trouble so some have requested that I fax the police report to them, but someone is telling me that lawyers already have access to police reports and should not need me to send me this information to them. Hopefully someone can clarify this for me Thanks in advance!
Lawyers again (Variation on a theme)? A group of headhunters sets up a small stand near a well-traveled road. The bill of fare is as follows: * Sautéed Tourist $10 * Braised Reporter $12 * Fried Diplomat $15 * Barbecued Lawyer $110 A customer, noticing the great price differential, asked why lawyers cost so much. The headhunter replied, "If you had ever tried to clean one of those devils, you would understand." * * * For another twist, Cannibal menu: Fried Scientist brain...... $5/lb Barbecued Reporter brain... $10/lb Poached Tourist brain...... $20/lb Scrambled Lawyer brain..... $200/lb Q: Why the difference? A: Do you know how many lawyers it takes to make one pound of brain??

Are Lawyers the Foundation of our Society? Shakespeare said, (paraphrase), "If you want the perfect dictatorship, kill all the lawyers". Do you appreciate lawyers? Do you realize that prosecutors are lawyers. The guys going after Saddam Hussein, and Kenneth Lay (RIP) are lawyers. Without the Rule of Law we would disintegrate into complete anarchy. Want to make a lawyer joke, now? If you get me in the mood, I'll give you the best lawyer joke ever!!! I did an incredible job of Cut and Paste and here for your viewing pleasure is:::::This is the best lawyer joke ever. (I only have 950 characters to work with, so I'm going into instant msg mode): Dr., Lawyer & Engineer walking in park. They argue about who has the best dog. They devise a contest to pick the winner. 1st up is the Dr., he call "Sthetoscope" erect a monument with that pile of bones" Sthes builds a perfect model of the human body with the bones. Then the engineers dog, calculator, builds a perfect model of the Eiffel Tower. Finally its tha lawyers dog's turn. The lawyer calls, "hey bull$hit go do your thing". Well bull$hit fawqs the other two dogs and takes the rest of the day off" asta la vista baby
Is it common for lawyers to ignore you? I hired a lawyer to represent me in a civil suite on a securities and exchange case. The first lawyer told me he was in over his head and wanted to pull in specialty lawyer so we did that. The new lawyer seemed to be very interested in my case. I asked him how long would it be before I heard anything from him and he told me about 3 weeks. Well it has been 7 weeks and I have not heard a word. I sent him one email and asked him if he has made any progress and he did not respond. Is this common practice among lawyers? He is being paid a percentage so I am out no money. But still I would like to know what kind of progress is being made or if he is taking this case or what. He told me he would send me a contract in the mail that has not shown up either. Do Lawyers let you know if they are taking the case after all or do they just expect you to catch on? This is for all the lawyers reading this if you tell a client you will be in touch in a certain about of time do it. I think it is incredibly rude not to touch base with your client in a set time frame.
If there are any lawyers on Y!A, please answer me this question.? I am an English major and I have recently learned that one of the job opportunities for majors such as me is lawyer. My mother has been constantly pushing me to be a lawyer (she's not crazy about it, though; she thankfully allows me the freedom to choose my career path) and though I agree it is a noble profession, I also understand that at times it is not so noble. It's not really the public speaking, or the endless hours of investigation and research and memory work that intimidates me. What DOES scare me is that at times lawyers have to defend the wrong people and make it seem as though they are in the right, all for the sake of cash. That is the one thing that I find unattractive about being a lawyer. So for all the lawyers who frequent Y!A, I'd appreciate it a lot if you could give me AT LEAST 5 very good reasons why a person should become a lawyer despite this "risk", aside from the usual "pay is good" or "it's a noble profession" answers. Thanks. :)
I need to ask aquestion regarding my lawyers representation of my D.w.i case? I was pulled over for a d.w.i a year ago, Ive paid my lawyer 2700.00 of 4000.00 . Weve only had pretial motions with an extension for lack of payment to lawyer.. I was recently the victim of a brutal robbery, and than a seperate incident were I was stabbed multiple times.. My lawyer told me that regardless of situations in my life that my case doesnt look good and he was going to drop me because of lack of payment, that I should take the plea bargain, or come up with enough money to hire another lawyer. i was told in jail by my the court bails bonds person that reviews cases requesting court appointed lawyers that I wasnt eligible... I misse my sentencing date wich was rescheduled. My lawyer than informed me that the judge added an addendun to nmy court appearance that I must pay my lawyer 300.00 dollars onn day of sentencing or I would immediately be thrown in jail.. can I not get a court appointed lawyer???? Is my lawyer lying about the 300.00 ??? please help
Is it me or are all lawyers crooks like this? I sometimes really think my lawyer isnt fighitng for my best interest. For example I have a accident case againts another driver that was at fault. I feel like I deserve much more then what the other insurance is supposibly offering me. I sometimes feel like the lawyer that represents you is out for his own money .... For example my lawyer might have made a side settlement with the other insurance company instead of me recieving a big chunk he would offer something small and keep a bigger commision for himself... Is this the way it usually is with lawyers? Or am I just making this stuff up because it seems like 99% of lawyers are crooks.
lawyers? are they really that bad? lawyers? is it really anything like what happens on law and order, are the defense lawyers really trying as hard as they can to get murderers out of jail. i want to be a lawyer when i grow up but i dont want to have to sleep with the fact that im releasing murderers. what about the district attorney's lawyers, how hard is it to because one of those. and do they get paid the same? how much do district attorneys get paid?
Expose crooked or negigent lawyers in the Uk. ?? I have fell victim to bad negligent practice, which also included crooked methods to maximise profit. My whole experiece can only be summed up as a total rip off by the outfit in this case who did nothing to help me at all. The lawyer concerned made false and misleading claims of experience purely to get my business. How can this be exposed to the public as a warning of a negligent solicitor to aviod. The law society is a total waist of time, it is only there as front to protect lawyers and make complications if a victim tries to complain. The only way to complain about bad, negligent, or crooked lawyer, is to involve yet more lawyers and spend several thousand pounds trying to expose these people. The system is designed this way by lawyers to protect lawyers. Therefore the law society ( more lawyer's) first job is to protect its member's. Therefore there need's to be a public notice board exposing and warn of bad prectice & these legal rip off merchants.
Okkkkkkkk For The Lawyers, or Anyone Knowledgeable In The Way Of The Law.........? lol Another Law and Order question. Last night on the show, the DA charged an attorney with...I think an accomplice to murder because his client told him where the bodies of the people he killed were, and the lawyer went and saw the bodies. The DA found out about the actions of the Defense lawyer, and decided to try him, because he would not tell where the bodies where, in order to protect his attorney-client privelege. All the Defense lawyer had to do was tell them, and the charges would be dropped. His client had already been sentenced to death, so the DA felt that in this matter, attorney-client privelege could be overlooked. The lawyer still refused, and was sentenced as guilty. Okay, my question's are...#1. Even if your client admits to you that they committed the murder, do you still defend them? #2. If the client tells a lawyer where the bodies are, should the lawyers go and see for themselves? #3. Could this scenario have happened in real life?
