Why are lawyers out of work when legal services cost so much? I hear many young lawyers complaining that it is impossible to find work and that many of them feel deceived by their law schools that gave them the impression that they will make a lot of money upon graduation. At the same time I hear a lot of people complaining that legal services cost so much and that they can't afford them. Why then can't these new complaining lawyers get work simply by charging less? Is it just because they suck at marketing themselves?
Would Canada consider a system of FREE Legal Services in each Province? Like similar to Free Healthcare, except you make legal services a right of the Canadian citizen by requiring that Attorney fees be paid in the form of taxes. Now, there is equal justice under the law, not just for criminal prosecutions, but civil torts, contract breaches, discrimination in the workplace, everybody can now see a Lawyer like they can see a Doctor. Depending on the severity of your injustice, you wait for your time to be represented. For example, if you are fired because of your race or national origin, you would get immediate attention. A system like this would empower some of Canada's poorest citizens to afford the same legal recourses as wealthy businessmen. Would Canada consider Legal Reform like this? Or maybe this could be a 2 tier system, where you must begin with a public lawyer, and if that lawyer determines your case is not strong enough for litigation, you can then choose to pay a hefty fee and get a private attorney Also there would be a key exception to this Legal Reform Idea. If the entity you are suing is the Govt of Canada, then the Canadian Government would have STRICT laws limiting its powers against an individual citizen/resident, including the amount of funding of its advocates....and Govt money to support your advocates would be your unconditional right...the Legal Governing body would be severed from the rest of Canada's Govt Workings.

My wife and I have a baby due in Feb 2008, and am figuring out if 2 comped legal services can be bartered? I know of the "networking effect" and know that either a lawyer knows somebody who is seeking to adopt a child, or a couple seeking to adopt a child, knows well a friend who is a lawyer. The 2 legal matters I need fixed are a) I need to legally surrender our first 8.m.o. child to her grandmother. b) I need help on expungment/appealing a plea deal from 2005/2006 (2 misdemeanors). Ever Hear of Pre-Paid Legal Services? About a month ago, I signed up with this company called Pre-Paid legal. They supposedly help you resolve almost any legal problem you may have. They've been in business for over 30 years, are top notch on the NYSE for the last 5 years and I have friends that have used the service. I'm looking to see if anyone else has used them for Legal services, Motor Vehicle issues, Trial Defense, IRS Audits or Credit Protection? I mean, I only pay $24 a month for the service and it does cover my whole family. I have them clearing up 2 incidents for me now. In a Municipality, What Resources Exist for Inexpensive to Free Legal Services on Real Estate Problems? My husband and I are having major construction issues in our 4 year old condo that we had built from the ground up in 2003. We have experienced everything from major plumbing issues to roof leaks, and the latest, mold, believed to be "Black" mold, caused by the roof leaks. The builder has supposedly gone out of business and the remaining represntative is dragging her feet, the association board members are doing what they can within the system, but in the long-run we are in an unhealthy condo, have been given no real commitment on repairs, and even if we get repairs made are looking at never being able to sell our condo. Can we get legal representation through our state's Attorney General's office, are there other appointed legal services that we might seek, and also is it reasonable to try to get the builder to provide us with one of the new units on the property that are uninhabited? This is a mess! We need as much help and good advice as we can possibly get---thanks

HELP! Need to find an organization that provides free legal asst. or referrals for such services.? I have two childern which I have raised on my own for the past 8 years with no child support from my husband.. I never had the extra money to get a lawyer for a divorce, therefore I never was givien custody of my babies. So in on May 6th 2005 my husband decided he want to be a dad now and he took off with my babies.. I live in Oklahoma and he lives in Florida. I was making payments to a lawyer in Oklahoma and was in the process filing for divorce and custody, when I went to Florida to see my children for christmas. When I was there he had me served with divorce and shared custody papers. This is where I have become desperate. I can not afford to pay another lawyer in Florida, and the Legal Aid Services of Florida can not provide the services I need because I do not live there. My children want to be home and I die a little more everyday, because I can't bring them home. I thank you for reading this question and for any information you could give in this matter.

Free legal services or advice?? My fiance was wrongly accused of family violence by his 30 yr old son... who was living with us. He was arrested and charged with aggravated assult. He has a court date in september, and we are in need of some legal advice, and legal aid. I know my fiance is innocent, as I have witnesed the entire "incident". And the only reason his son pressed charges, is out of retaliation.
